Role Description
CASTING DIRECTOR:Â
Our Emerging Projects and Community Films, which includes Casting Directors, Directors, animators, and talent, offer unique opportunities for casting directors to work alongside the teams that come together to create movies, TV shows, and educational media. These projects provide meaningful and productive work that allows you to build on your experience and develop your skills further. You will be provided with challenging tasks, real-world experience, and many educational and social networking opportunities.Â
The Casting Director Role is flexible and can begin from March 2025-September 2025 Â (start and end dates are flexible based on schedules) for our upcoming streaming series and mini series. Filming for the Streaming Series is projected to be in August and September 2025. The Mini Series will have ongoing filming. This position is ideal for an established casting diretor that want to help transform casting for our live-action projects. A hybrid work structure may or may not be available.

Set on a Hill is seeking a candidate to support our talent in our Television Media & Music Touring department, based in LA. Media is a fast-paced, high-volume business requiring exceptional relationship management, attention to detail, and understanding of the client and talent. The ideal candidate should have experience in the film, tv, and streaming series industry. The individual should be motivated, a quick-thinker, and possess solid administrative and organizational skills.
The ideal candidate is organized, an established professional in the industry, and is able to communicate with clients, talent, and executives while maintaining a high level of discretion.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Script Analysis: Examine scripts to comprehend character development, narrative structure, and thematic elements, ensuring a deep understanding of the production’s vision.

Creative Collaboration: Engage in discussions with directors, producers, and writers to align on character profiles, tone, and overall casting strategy.

Talent Scouting: Utilize industry contacts, attend performances, and review portfolios to discover both mature emerging and established actors suitable for the roles.

Audition Management: Plan and execute audition schedules, coordinate with talent agents, and facilitate callbacks to assess actors’ suitability for specific roles.

Contract Negotiation: Handle all aspects of actor agreements, including fees, scheduling, and other contractual obligations, ensuring alignment with the production’s budget and requirements.

Team Leadership: Oversee casting assistants and support staff, providing guidance and ensuring efficient workflow throughout the casting process.

Diversity and Inclusion: Ensure the casting process reflects diverse talent, promoting inclusivity and authenticity in character representation.

Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive records of auditions, actor profiles, and casting decisions for future reference and continuity.

Budget Review: Review the casting budget, making recommendations as necessary to stay within financial constraints while meeting creative needs.

Industry Awareness: Stay informed about current industry trends, emerging talent, and best practices to bring innovative approaches to the casting process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven Experience: Several years of casting experience for film, TV, or digital projects.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of casting trends, talent, and industry best practices.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively collaborate with directors, producers, and talent.
- Leadership: Strong skills in managing teams and overseeing the casting process.
- Organizational Expertise: Ability to handle multiple projects, meeting deadlines with attention to detail.
- Negotiation Skills: Experience negotiating contracts and balancing creative needs with budget.
- Creative Insight: Ability to identify talent that aligns with a production’s vision.
- Problem-Solving: Skilled in addressing challenges during the casting process.
- Casting Software: Familiarity with tools to track auditions, actors, and schedules.
- Degree or Experience: Degree in film, theatre, or relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- Diverse Network: Extensive network of agents and actors across various backgrounds, including casting for multiple languages and cultural contexts.

ASSISTANT:Â
Our Emerging Talent Programs, which includes Interns, Trainees, Multi-Hyphenates, and Superpower Academy Associates, offer unique opportunities for students, recent graduates, and emerging talent to work alongside the teams that come together to create a community around movies, TV shows, and immersive experiences. These seasonal, paid assignments provide meaningful and productive work that allows you to build your experience and develop your skills further. You will be provided with challenging tasks, real-world experience, and many educational and social networking opportunities.Â
The Fall Internship is from September through December 15th and all candidates must be able to work 8-15 hours a week typically on Saturday and Sunday. The Spring Internship is from January through May and all candidates must be able to work 8-15 hours a week typically on Saturday and Sunday. Â The Summer Internship is from May/June through August 30th (start and end dates are flexible based on school schedules) and all candidates must be able to work 15-20 hours a week, Monday through Sunday. Â This position is ideal for a student enrolled in an accredited college or university.Â

Remote Hybrid
This is a Remote Hybrid opportunity. This role can be done in the current city that you live in but involves interfacing with the community. There are both computer work as well as community building projects.
Responsibilities
- Interface with the Local Student Communities [Remote Hybrid – In your current location]
- Liaison with Local Non-Profits and Schools [In your city – Remote Hybrid]
- Moderate Remote Community Virtual Events
- Record video for social media and community facing events
- Interview local students and businesses
- Manage administrative duties including handling heavy phones, calendar management, coordinating meetings and schedules, scheduling travel, booking reports, preparing expense reports, and general office management tasks
- Manage non-profit community collaborations and sponsorships
- Assist with brand sponsorships and collaborations
- Communicate directly with clients, the community, talent and venues
- Organize & track offers (confirmed, pending or past)
- Enter final reports and settle event in CRM
- Track contracts (Buyer Signed, Set on a Hill Reviewed) and deposits
- Update client calendars, create/update Offer/Tour Grids
- Assist with special projects, research, and compiling information as needed
Qualifications and Skills
- 10 months of professional administrative or equivalent experience preferred
- Ability to work well in fast-paced environments; meet tight deadlines; lead multiple projects and expectations; maintain a sharp focus while handling competing priorities
- Attention to detail, strong organization and problem solving skills are a must
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, while understanding the importance of maintaining confidentiality
- Ability to handle heavy phone workload of outgoing communication
- Ability to anticipate needs and execute time-sensitive matters
- Team oriented and able to communicate and collaborate with team memabers at all levels
- Must be solutions oriented
